I could not resist and bought the kit today ... actually 30 minutes ago. Because I've paid via PayPal I could download the files immediately (it's an electronic download only). All in all six files:

Release_Notes_-_v1025.txt
Shoot_Em_Up_Kit_User_Guide.pdf
Shoot_Em_Up_Kit_V1.025.exe
Shoot_Em_Up_Kit_Patch_V1.025.exe
Shoot_Em_Up_Kit_V1.025_for_Win7.exe
Shoot_Em_Up_Kit_Patch_V1.025_for_Win7.exe

Because I still operate on Windows XP SP2 - yes, don't laugh please - I've installed the non-Windows-7-version of course. Installation went smooth ... but immediately after starting the kit I get an error from Windows:

»Shoot Em Up Kit.exe is not a valid Win32-application«

Doh? Well, maybe the supplied patch helps. But after installing it still the same error message.

I know those errors sometimes appear when you try to run a 64 bit application under a 32 bit Windows. Later one is my system. So I consulted the documentary. No hint about the Windows version. But the web site explicitly states:

»OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8. 32 and 64 bit versions are supported.«

Well ... I've contacted »Tall Studio« (the makers of the Shoot Em Up Kit) ... and now I am waiting for their answer.

:( (Sad) Waaaah!

[Update]

Exactly after 1:10 hours John from »Tall Studios« - the company who produces SEUK - wrote back via eMail and announced help. An other two hours later he mailed me a ZIP file containing a new runtime. Problem is still not solved ... but hey ... whow!!! That's what I call customer relation! :-)

As an editor for computer and gaming-magazines, camera operator and software developer (last one my current profession) - and of course a long time gamer - I always wanted to make games. No that I am self-employed for three years now the time is absolutely right to start a game on my own. That's the reason why I am here: Making games. I'll upgrade my Journal about current projects.

I have a close friend here named

:icontheinflater: TheInflater

though NOT EXACTLY my style what he does. But he pointed me to deviantArt and the fact so many great artists - also in the pixel domain - are present here, Also many many hobby and independent game developers here. So I felt instantly at home. He also has long-time experience in render software and he already agreed to help me with some graphics if it comes to CGI. He's also planning a game. So, well, overall good company here. :)
